This project deals with the calculation of the energy meter billing based on the load consumption given as an input using set up buttons. The microcontroller calculates the rupees that will be consumed by the loads as per the input given and displays it on the 16X2 LCD interfaced with the microcontroller. This project is powered by an on-board power supply takes the ac power and converts it into dc power that is fed to on-board devices and integrated circuits. The microcontroller used in the project is of 8051 family which is of 8 bit. In the project we use the setup buttons which are used for entering the price of the unit. The power supply consists of a step down transformer 230/12V, which steps down the voltage to 12V AC. This is converted to DC using a Bridge rectifier. The ripples are removed using a capacitive filter and it is then regulated to +5V using a voltage regulator 7805 which is required for the operation of the microcontroller and other components.
